The characters are all there, so many lines and scenes verbatim. The choices the thhe made and the choices the movie made are both "valid? If you live in a place, you write about it. Good read, good movie.

This makes me like many other returned Peace Corps volunteers. What do you get.     I was there in the 's with the Peace Corps, and have returned many times since. Saipan is one of my islands, part of my life-long fascination with bounded, yet also boundless, places. I first wrote it twenty years ago, drawing on my New Jersey home, my German immigrant family. 🙊
