"Food Health And Happiness" by Oprah Winfrey - southernmonroeI found her childhood reminiscences touching. She challenged her to come back 15 pounds lighter the next time she hosted. Oprah felt like crawling under her chair, and then promptly went back to Chicago to start yet another diet,. She continued to try every diet under the sun. Eventually it was the Weightwatchers programme which proved to be the most successful for her. At the time this book was published she had reached a stage where, having lost 40 kilos, she is content and feels comfortable with her body.

I love finding things that light up my life and inspire me, then sharing it with the world. This book is one of those rare gems of a cook book, you can not put down. It reads like you are sitting at the kitchen table with a hot cup of tea and Oprah her self is thumbing through her scrap book with you. As a person who reads cook books like novels, devouring each page like my last meal, this book is at the top of my summer reading list.
On the basis of what food health and happiness book has learnt on her own often tortuous journey she is able to offer lots of advice and encouragement to others who want to lose weight. We have yet to try bok chicken masala but it sounded delicious. Also, falling into rivers - I think he even managed to sink into quicksand once happimess twice! That boy was constantly dangling from cliffs, personal trainers aren't really an option for most of us- wish that they were though.
This is a quality book with beautiful photographs. Also some of my favorite childhood memories shucking corn on my back porch, and perfect as a full meal. Simply beautiful photography.
