  1. What are your office hours?
    Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
     
  2. What building code does Jackson Township enforce?
    The fire prevention code is UCC CODE .  The building code is UCC CODE.
     
  3.  Am I required to obtain a building permit for a deck, shed, pool (in-ground or above ground), or porch?
    Yes.  Sheds less than 10 x 10 do not require a building permit.  However, a zoning permit is required. 
     
  4.  Does a fence require a permit?
    Yes.
     
  5. How can I find out what zoning district my property is located in?
    Refer to the Electronic Zoning Map on our site or contact the Township Office or stop at the municipal building.
     
  6.  Do I need inspections on a single family home?
    Yes.
     
  7.  Is open burning permitted?
    Jackson Township does not have any burning ordinance.
     
  8.  Does Jackson Township have public sewage?
    The majority of the township does not have public sewage. The township belongs to the Butler County Sewage Association  724-841-0141. 
     
  9. Does Jackson Township regulate signs?
    Yes. A permit is required.
     
  10. How much is a building permit?
    The cost is $40 for the first $1000 of residential construction and $4.50 for every $1000 after.  The cost for commercial and multi-family housing is $70.00 for the first $1000 of construction and $5.50 for each $1000 after.  Click here to access an electronic version of the Building Permit form.
     
  11. Who is the Fire Marshal?
    Chief Len Keller at 724-452-5600 and Tim Sapienza at 724-452-4046 are our Fire Marshals.  
     
  12. Do I need a permit to construct a driveway?
    Yes.  The Roadmaster will look at the plans submitted and issue the ok for the permit.  Click here to access the electronic version of the Driveway Permit.
     
  13. How long does it take to get a residential building permit?
    A building permit can usually be obtained within fifteen (15) working days after application is submitted. In some circumstances, it could take up to thirty (30) working days.
     
  14. Do I need to pay for a permit when I drop off the application?
    No. You pay for all permits when you come to pick them up.
     
  15. Can I fax my building permit application to you?
    Since a site plan is required, we do not accept faxed building permit applications.
     
  16. What are the dates of the various Boards and Commissions?
    The Planning Commission meets the first Wednesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. The Board of Supervisors have their monthly meetings the third Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m.    
                                                                                
  17. Who do I call for the dispatch of police, fire or emergency medical services?
    All requests for service are taken through 9-1-1, even if they are non-emergency requests.
     
  18. Are soliciting permits required?
    Yes.  Permits can be obtained at the Jackson Township Police Department  225 Perry Highway

  19. Where can I obtain a Jackson Township map?
    Maps are available at the municipal building, 140 Magill Road, Zelienople.   You can also view an online Zoning Map and Street Map on this website.

  22. How do I get a recycling bin?
    Recycling bins are available at the municipal building.
     
  23. Who's my fire department?
    Harmony Volunteer Fire Department is the designated fire department for Jackson Township.  If assistance is needed, other fire departments are dispatched.
